My website www.carolbroos.com parents and students use daily. It has calendars, podcasts, and information, where students can comment on. My website has received the “school website of the week” for March 16, 2007 by techlearning.com It recently won the “Best of the Web” from Digital Education in September 2007. The Best of the Web (BOW) recognizes and celebrates the innovations and resulting maturity in providing solutions and communicating well with citizens, businesses or educational communities.

I have a sister site for teachers www.beatechie.com This is where teachers have posted their work they have completed at my presentations. There are links, blogs, pictures, and videos. Teachers can comment and download all the podcasts.

My blog carolbroos.learnerblogs.org is for my students and parents. Additionally, I maintain a professional blog beatechie.edublogs.org concerning my thoughts and comments on music and technology. It recently is featured on the www.mustech.org site for the top thirty music education bloggers across the country.

I have a wiki for all my presentations, so no more hand-outs! I post everything.

I recently re-mastered my recital at THE Ohio State University. I created a website with my performance. My students delight in listening to me sing classical operatic music.

I believe strongly in collaboration and making my classroom web.2.0. I started a ning for collaboration with other music technology teachers across the world: musictechieteachers.ning, com The ning has videos, pictures, discussions, and important upcoming events for music, technology and opportunities for web 2.0. It is much like Facebook for teachers that are techies.

I traveled to Japan on a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund teacher scholarship in October 2006. My Japan website is listed on the JFMF website. I have published an article for Technology Institute of Music Educators (Spring 2007, Vol. 9, No, 2) titled “GarageBand, not GarbageBand” and “Podcasting using iWeb,” which was published both for Technology Institute of Music Educators and Illinois Computing Educators.

I will present at Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and National Educators Computing Conference (NECC). Apple Computer has selected me, one of twenty presentations, to Video Podcast my presentation “It’s Music: Create, Share, Post, and Comment.” I have presented at the Illinois Music Educators Convention (IMEA), Michigan Music Educators Association (MMEA), the National Technology Institute of Music Educators (TI:ME), Ohio Music Educators Conference (OMEA), Illinois Technology Conference for Educators (IL-TCE), and Illinois Educational Technology Conference (IETA). I taught “Movie Making” as part of the Vermont MIDI Project professional development workshop in Summer 2007. Additionally, I taught summer workshops at Sunset Ridge for classroom and teaching a three-hour hands-on class “GarageBand for the Classroom,” for the Summer Experience North at Stevenson High School, as part of Western Illinois University the summer of 2007. I am an Illinois provider for CPDU’S. I recently was awarded “Star Educator” from Discovery Education. I am one of fourteen bloggers part of the Star Discovery Bloggers from Illinois.
